BYU jfsb classroom building (decorative stairs:
Project Role/Description: Project Role: Intern Architect involved in the conceptual design and detailing of the decorative stairs for this large classroom building for the Humanities department. During a summer in between semesters, I worked directly with the Design Principal on the focal point of this building. I came up with sketches, but then helped resolve the design chosen by the Design Principal. We came up with a design of two curving steel tubes for a stair that is two stories tall. The stair was the center of an oval shape Campidoglio like plaza reminiscent of Michelangelo’s in Rome. A skylight was centered above it and the metaphor was that you ascend with light & truth. Provo, UT 2000-04
